We initially chose this hotel based on price, location and reviews. We were very glad we did. The owners could not have been more helpful or accommodating if they tried. Our plans kept changing and we needed access to both Internet and Fax at short notice and awkward hours. The owners met our every need with no fuss and offered suggestions to help us overcome our problems. As in other reviews the decor is dated but it is in the midst of a makeover. The rooms are good size, clean, comfortable and have all the basics. They are not luxurious but well worth the money.

The Hollywood Downtowner was probably the most friendly hotel I've ever stayed at... it's a family run business and the front desk staff couldn't have been more helpful. Our room was large and clean, and the complimentary breakfast was excellent compared to most motels. They also didn't have any problem with allowing 4 adults to share the twin queen room (which is a problem we encountered at several other motels in the area). As for location, it's perfect for the Walk of Fame and Chinese Theatre - just a 20-minute stroll away. I'd definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone I know going to LA in the future.
